Before I talk about HOW you can donate, let's talk about WHO we are all going to donate TO.
Spark Box Studio was started by two Queen's Fine Art students, Chrissy Poitras and Kyle Topping. It was opened in 2009, and is a huge part of the Picton and eastern Ontario community. The studio acts as an artists residency program (and they even give away free residencies). I remember they came to our class at Queen's (after they graduated) to speak about how they opened up a residency and all of the hoops they had to jump through. Their website even has a resource section for emerging artists unsure of how to operate in the world. I have even met Kyle at a show he was part of at Modern Fuel, where he spoke about the progress of Spark Box Studios. He even brought some of the current residencies with him to check out the art scene in Kingston.

All of this is meant to open you hearts to donating towards a letterpress. This letterpress will go towards helping a huge range of artists continue to develop their thoughts and ideas as well as helping the art community thrive. They have given so much, so why not help them out?
Here is a video to continue to persuade you. I know I was sold before I even clicked it. AND, if you still aren't convinced, they give you perks for the level you donate. so, GIVE GIVE GIVE!

Wow thanks so much Lianne! This is the sweetest blog ever. It is also really appreciate.
ReplyDeleteAnytime Chrissy! I even sent an email to Design*sponge if they'll tweet about it or something, and to Jan at Queen's. Let's get you guys a letterpress!
